Dare to DIY: Dare to be Thankful!

Surely you all know Kim by now.  If not, you should definitely get to know her.  Not only is she super crafty, but she's also super nice - definitely someone I am glad to have as a "blog friend."

This is her second year hosting her Dare to DIY party.  Check out the details
here, and play along!!

This week is Dare to... Be Thankful - and thankful I truly am.

You know me, I find a good idea on the internet and completely copy it!  :)  This is exactly one of those projects, but it was fun to make, very easy, and I may or may not have made three sets of them as gifts, and I just so happen to want to make many more, with many other words!

I took a huge piece of wood from our shed, chopped it into various sizes (all by myself thankyouverymuch!), and painted each piece with basic craft paint, using a foam brush.  Next I got different, but coordinating, pieces of scrapbook paper, printing a letter on each.  Then I simply Mod Podge'd the paper on, making sure to get the edges down, as well as podging the tops for a glossy look.

For the ones I gave as gifts, I just wrapped the blocks up in burlap and raffia.

Soooo easy, and a fun reminder to be thankful every day.  For Christmas, I'm envisioning Noel, Jolly, Rejoice .... I'm gonna go Mod Podge crazy. Fair warning.

Go check out the other projects on NewlyWoodwards!

  1. Very cute! I'm loving how versatile these are, not only for holidays, but also with your family last name (paired with family photos), name blocks for a baby's room, the possibilities are endless!!!

I wonder if Hubby will let me use his saw unsupervised?

  3. OH my goodness. I love love love these. How cute! And what a great gift. I made some word cubes that you can swap out with different holidays, and I love those, too. But I may need a set of thankful cubes. ;)

Thanks for joining in. A party's not a party until Claire arrives. =)
