I'm on a roll guys. I've got craftiness uptohere. It's bursting out, I tell you.
Banking on my success not total failure in the wreath department this fall, I thought I would take a stab at a wintery one. And this sucker needed to be cheap.
Enter Walmart and the Dollar Store.

$1 DooDads (did I just say DooDads?) |
I found a lackluster basic green wreath at Walmart for $2, and spent some quality time with my spraypaint making it more presentable. I started with a cheap gray spraypaint to cover most, but not all, of the green. I then used my coveted metallic silver to give it shine. The great thing about the metallic is that if you have a base coat down, it doesn't take much to give just enough of a hint of silver. Which is fantastic, because that's not the cheapest color out there!
I spraypainted pinecones (yes, again!) and they got glittered. I gathered a few leftover ornaments and added them for good measure.
With a little hot glue, I had a festive wreath for our front door, with just enough sparkle and shine. Not bad for $5!
omg claire. I love it! It looks so fancy and definately more costlier (is that a word?) than $5! I made a wreath and was all proud of it until I read this. Now my wreath is put to shame. I wish I could see all that you have done in person, but it looks like your new camera is working out great! Super excited to see you guys in a few weeks-Lyla has some teeth! and she sits up on her own and is one millistep closer to crawling. Love you!
ReplyDeleteWow way to dress up a wreath and make it look like it cost you $60 bucks, I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to cheapy holiday decor, you cannot beat the dollar store. I attack it every Christmas season.
