2010 Year In Review Book

The past two years, I've shared with you my "year in review" photobook I make each year.

I really enjoy making these, and I honestly do get the books out a few times during the year to look back and reminisce.  It forces me to condense six billion photos a year's worth of photos into compact glimpses into our lives.  This year was especially hard, given the adorable babies that were photographed this year (seriously, I have SOOOO many that are incredible shots, but just didn't have room for!).  The screenshots below are just a few of the layouts - my book was almost double in size this year!

One of the most enjoyable parts of the book creation process is using my own photos for the backgrounds.  So all of those beach sunsets, morning fog on the lake, cute Christmas wrapping paper, or even mac and cheese shots get to make appearances in the book.

Here's a look at my 2010 - in pictures.

I chose pink as the background this year - in honor of our nieces :)

I will be making one of these books each year - and should soon enough have quite a collection of yearly memories!

FYI:  I use Picaboo for the books - they often do Groupons for $100 credit for $35.  And did you know - it doesn't matter where you live, you can buy a Groupon from anywhere?  The Picaboo ones I've purchased were from San Fran and Columbus, OH I think - often companies will do Groupons in smaller markets, knowing that national deal sites will pick up the offer and publicize it anyway, allowing others in more "expensive" Groupon cities to purchase.  I subscribe to email alerts from DealNews.com's Groupon Roundup.

I use Picasa for all my photo storing/editing (although, I'm trying to get into Picnik - but only now getting the hang of it!), and I used Scrapblog for the cover image.

  1. It looks incredible!! I have yet to make a book, and I had no idea you can use your own pictures as backgrounds! How FUN!

And thank you so much for the tip regarding Groupon. Do you just subscribe to your main city and then search other cities when you're looking for a particular type of deal?

  3. Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I've done photobooks before for trips that we've taken, but a "year in review" book would be a very good way of finding a place for all those random pictures :)

  4. I'm now obsessed with Groupon's roundup. How have I never seen this? I was going to get a bunch of my mom's photos scanned and they have a scan deal for 60 percent off. Awesome!

One of my 2011 goals is to make a book for each of our three years of marriage. This reminds me that I really wanna get that done. I have all the photos, I just need to do it. Thanks for sharing yours. It's fabulous and such a great idea.

  5. I love that you keep on top of this tradition...it looks awesome! I need to get on this stat, taking 40 pictures a day of this baby (slightly exaggerating) is getting out of hand pretty quickly.

  7. Fabulous idea! I love it. I'm going to jump on this for 2010, and then maybe go back a few years. What a great way to organize and store everything in one place!
