The First Year
Hi everyone!
There's a guest post up at Project Simple Life today, written by yours truly. Amanda is doing a great series on blogger's memories, lessons, and loves during their first year of being married - and it was so interesting to think back to our first year to write this. I learned ... a lot! Go check it out!
(and while you're there, stick around to read the rest of fabulous Amanda's posts - she's all about the simple - my kind of girl!)

Brain Break
I'm taking a brief brain break to write this, thus it will be short!
School went great this week - it's nice to be learning again, and the flexibility is wonderful (I get to see sunlight!). It's pretty crazy taking three Maymesters (although, I feel like a jerk complaining, since I know so many people do full school loads AND work AND have kids AND are nighttime super heroes). I'm just not used to staying up past 10 pm or using my brain this much!! Real life has pretty much been put on hold in favor of textbook reading. The reading is pretty intense - but I'm pretty much loving it. (Hooray!) And while it's crazy - it's only three weeks. Can't complain about that.
The other night I posted on Facebook "i'm going to pretend i'm not up at nearly midnight glitter-gluing... for my graduate class..." - which pretty much sums up how it's been going. Fun, stimulating, relevant for my future career - but kinda crazy person ish.
I hope to get ahead in my school work this weekend - and do important things like read your blogs (I miss you all!) and beg Tony to let me go to this.

Back to School, Back to School
I am the biggest nerd on the planet - and thus made Tony take a back to school picture of me, a la elementary school.
Along with being a nerd, I'm an over-optimistic overachiever - and am taking 3 Maymester classes. Forgive me if I go MIA until June 1.
ps - Way to go, Claire - way to choose "side profile" as your pose. Very flattering...
pps - I call this smile my Squirrel Face. Can't help making it.

The Happiest
That's what I'm wishing for my newly-29 year old husband this year - the happiest of times. I love him more than I thought was even possible. He makes me smile and laugh each and every day. He is my support. He is my sanity. He is the best thing to ever happen to me - and I can't wait to spend a hundred more birthdays with him. :)
Love you Tony. Forever.

Oh, Mexico
"The sun's so hot I forgot to go home
Guess I'll have to go now"
Love that song.
Anyway, here is a picture tour of our trip to Cancun. Just what the doctor ordered - relaxing, eating, lots of sleep, icy drinks, general lounging about... was a great way to celebrate my transition into a new "job." We didn't do much besides get our tan on, but we did take a day trip to Isla Mujeres, which was totally gorgeous and more rustic than Cancun itself. Our resort (Gran Melia) was super nice (and affordable, thanks to some super-research that Tony did!) It was fabulously relaxing.

This is the hotel lobby! Vines hang down from the top - pretty impressive! |
Looks fake! |
Early morning before the swim up bar really got going |
View from our balcony |
Approx. 10 am here. |
OF COURSE we had to rent a golf cart on Isla Mujeres! It's in our blood! |
Impossibly beautiful. |
The Eastest Mexican! |
Can you spot the iguana? |
The requisite "look! i was really there - there are my feet!" photo |

Mexico.
Don't worry, I'll do one of those "look how awesome my trip was even though my readers don't care" posts that I'm so good at.

Yard Progress
After giving it a few weeks to do it's thing, the yard is finally starting to look normal! We've had mother nature on our side, providing lots and lots of rain (and luckily, no tornadoes here).
It's looking less stripy and more grassy. There are still a few patches that still haven't woken up yet, but we're super happy with how it's looking! I'm imagining little kiddos frolicking across it one day (or, me frolicking, yesterday....).
Also - the peach tree that used to sit in our miserable little island is now back in the corner, hiding:
It seems to be liking the shade, with tons of little peach buds, as I showed in my last Simple Pleasures. If they actually grow to full fruit, I will be astounded. And proud of ourselves. And a new-found peach lover (fuzzy skin, weird.).
