Done! Done! Done!

O.    M.    G.

I'm done with school for the semester.  I can hardly believe it.  I have all of this free time (short-lived, I know!) and am not really sure what to do with it.  I know naps will be included, definitely naps.

So after three somewhat life-consuming semesters, I'm finally done with all of the classes that I need to be a teacher.  I've finished my student teaching, submitted my portfolio, now it's only a matter of time before I get the official paperwork saying I can legally be a teacher.  It feels pretty good :)

Of course, I won't really be using that paper yet.  Since Baby will be born right around the time that the school year starts here, I plan on taking a year off to stay home with her.  I will probably try to do some subbing (short or long term) eventually, but it will be at least a year before I'm trying to get a job (which is probably best - it's not a great outlook this year!).

However, I can't say I'm totally in the clear yet - I still have two more classes to wrap up the masters degree part of my schooling.  I'm taking both of them online this summer - starting the beginning of June - and ending, um.... like, the week before my due date...  I think I will be the only hugely pregnant chick in July in Georgia not wanting her baby to come a few days early.  If you don't mind, everyone cross your fingers I won't be doing an online exam in between contractions, k?

So for the next month, I'm basically a housewife.  I have a lot to do, like clear out the disaster that is Baby's nursery and do all of the organizing I've been putting off for a year.  And read The Hunger Games.  And get a haircut.  And sit by a pool for a few days.  I'm so happy just to be able to engage in real life again.

This past weekend was glorious.  It was beautiful and warm, and we didn't do anything especially groundbreaking, but the best part was - it didn't matter what we did.  I could say yes to any plans with no guilt hanging over my head or calculation of hours I was "wasting" by not studying.  We sat outside for a few hours doing nothing.  I painted my nails.  I took a nap.  I set no alarms.  I smiled a lot.

I've got a lot to update you on - and I promise I will.  I'm just happy to have a chance to write again and be a commenter on other blogs again - I've been reading, just not commenting (besides in my head!).

In the meantime, I'll be spending this Monday waddling around my house, waiting to hear if I have gestational diabetes...(took the 4 hour test on Friday after failing the first...)  At least I can do that in my pjs. :)

Simple Pleasures

A shot from a recent baby shower for my friend Victoria - she's 10 weeks ahead of me so it's fun to see what's coming :)
